Celebrating Our Love of Place
An Arts & Advocacy collaboration with the Conservation Lands Foundation
This ongoing project centers on the southern San Luis Valley, highlighting the ecological and cultural importance of public lands, particularly Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lands along the Rio Grande. Partnering with the Conservation Lands Foundation, the project uses visual storytelling to celebrate the landscape and build community connection to these vital public spaces.
Over the course of a year, I will create up to eight poster-sized mixed-media artworks that reflect the values, stories, and shared love of this region—gathered through interviews and field visits with ranchers, farmers, youth, water managers, and other local voices. This project turns attention to the land itself: the open vistas, native flora, deep histories, and generational ties that shape how people live with and care for this place.
The artwork will debut at the end of 2025 at a community-centered public lands event and will be used in public outreach, storytelling, and education efforts. Through exhibitions, postcards, and collaborative conversation, the project aims to spark joy, dialogue, and momentum for the long-term care and recognition of public lands in the San Luis Valley.
